Recorded live on 01/28/26 at the Silverlake Lounge in Los Angeles, this recording of Patrick Shiroishi (saxophones), Mike Meanstreetz (drums), and Adam Lion (vibraphone) captures the trio's chemistry as they meet for the second time. As intentional spontaneity is explored, emergent processes appear gradually to create a constellation of unique sonic environments impossible to recreate. This performance displays a blend (and sometimes clash) of idiosyncrasies, representing a flourishing LA improvising scene bursting with urgency, passion, and diversity.

Like the first two, MEFS is a scathing teardown of Western Culture, not that it needs any help at this point. As with their first two releases, MEFS leads with an epic: “Canons of Western Civilization” is performed by an ensemble of 11 players, featuring Jorge Martin of Sleestak & Spastic Colon, Caxo & Joe Galarza of Aztlan Underground / Unearthed, the incomparable Ego Plum, & Grammy-winning multi-instrumentalist Ulises Bella of Ozomatli, all of whom deftly forge the moving parts into the last music on Earth. Jayden Barber is an experimental sound artist, composer and award-winning filmmaker from Providence, Rhode Island. Hypnotizing tape loops and electronic drones overdriven and expanded into visceral, cleansing walls of sound. A sonic landscape flooded with nostalgia and reminiscent of historic cathedrals, teetering between heavy movements of beauty and punishment. Barber has played alongside Alessandro Cortini of Nine Inch Nails and Mute Records, Daedelus, and has worked with producer and guitarist James Plotkin (Khanate, OLD, Tim Hecker, Merzbow, etc.).

Anything! was formed 2022 in a collision of free-form musical traditions and trajectories, their spinning combination a tumult of the razed as risen. With all ears converging on the horizon, action in the fore dances precariously the precipice and parallax of perspectives in group improvisation.

From their acrobatically shaken musical tree falls anthropomorphicly bruised fruit at the prickly paired crossroads of everything and nothing - tasting notes of flammable pine, corrosive citrus, and wild urban yeast soilings. Individually the trio perform and record in a variety of sonic projects in Los Angeles and beyond.

Ryan Ebaugh is a Saxophone player, and multi-instrumentalist, from San Diego California. Since first being exposed to the works of artists such as Frank Lowe, Anthony Braxton, and Charles Gayle, Ryan has been playing improvised music from the halls of Cal Arts to a pizza shop in Las Vegas. He has released several albums under the band "Ebaugh" with Orion Good, Ali Mehraban Ramirez, and Max Turner Oestriecher. He has collaborated, recorded, and played sets with several artists in San Diego performing at Tower Bar, The Casbah, and The North Park Observatory amongst others.

Ebaugh's YMSD739 comes from two sessions at Yore Studio. In the artists own words- "Yore Studios exists to me in this holy trinity of practice spaces in San Diego, you got Rock and Roll San Diego, Hindsight, and Yore Studios. I booked two sessions early in the morning and played for an hour each day. I wanted to do this to record a sort of time stamp on where I was in life both in my playing and where I was at the time. I was listening to a lot of Frank Lowe, Anthony Braxton, and Charles Gayle, but also getting much deeper into what people were doing now through YouTube videos of live sets at the Downtown Music Gallery and learning about so many of the new players who sound so much better than me have inspired me to make this as a humble addition to the list."

YMSD739 was mastered by Tim Green at Louder Studio. This new edition to the Daft Alliance catalog will be available on June 24, 2024 on digital and cassette formats. Ryan Ebaugh will be performing shows on both coasts to support the release.

VCU consists of Cameron Presley (ex-Upsilon Acrux) on guitar, Ryan Ebaugh on saxohone, and Nathan Berlinguette on drums. The trio is currently working on material for their first official release with the Chocolate Monk label.

Enrique Garoz de Diego & W. T. Nelson collectively represent more than half a century of sound-craft using some of the most unique hardware anywhere. Garoz de Diego directs one of the most idiosyncratic high-voltage analog studios to be assembled on the European continent in the last 20 years. Dedicated to building absolutely rugged audio with a diversity of projects, Enrique has activated, collaborated & performed with some of the most far-out audio artists on the planet. Gaba with collaborator Garazi Gorostiaga issues a consistently confounding din nourished by a strict diet of metaphysical literary subjects & ideas. P/E unit Emaztegiaiak is witness to Miguel A. Garcia’s smiteful electronics met head-on by Garoz de Diego’s lunatic-preacher vocalizations. Tube Tentacles’ glass-based electronic instruments & vivid plasma-textured documents feature a prolific who’s who of experimental excellence: splits with Guilty C., Witches of Malibu, Government Alpha & NBDY* just off the top.

Nelson started with analog tape in the 1970s & began building unique electro-acoustic instruments in the ‘80s. Association with Bastard Noise & Man is the Bastard in the 90’s inspired expedition into the analog electronic territories. Mentored by both father, William Nelson, an Electronic Engineer, & comrade Henry Barnes of Amps for Christ, new synths were soon part of concurrent music groups Sleestak & Unicorn’s sound. 2000’s saw the founding of Geronimo with percussionist Moises Ruiz & the Trogotronic Studio in Long Beach CA. The venture’s trajectory was guided by Geronimo & Bastard Noise producer Michael Rozon, Joey Karam from The Locust, Chris Goodreau of Sickness & Thomas Garrison / Control. In the 20 years hence the shop grew from a part-time pursuit to an all-the-time obsession. Presently Emperor of the North & TTT are provisioned by purpose-built in-house electronic prototypes. Both projects serve an interesting reciprocal role for the artisan-synth-studio’s R&D and vice versa.

TTT yields an extremely tight phonic gamut comprised of high-dynamic beat-based marches. It’s the sound of conflict; the sound of the collective upheaval born of the relentless rotten turds dropped from the lewdly gilded floating-world on high. The sound of a spontaneous industrial-orchestrated street melee peppered by flash-bang incendiary devices. Overwhelming numbers audaciously emerge from behind the barricades as one invincible movement.

Obleak (USA)

Some of the greatest artistic monuments are the result of ingenious procedure.

Obleak’s music is curated through the processes of self-generated rhythms. Probability sequences are initiated & interfaced with performance. The artist’s reaction to the machine in real-time is a key point of terrifyingly skilled engagement. Emphasis here is a focus on the application of experienced intuition & complete indifference to any reflection whatsoever. The ballistic sound of Obleak’s “Statolith”—a mechanized interactive assembly—accompanied by pulverized vocal conduct, assembles a visceral sonic collage.Direct connection from the contorted metallic soundscape to the key-lit cover art offers more proof of Obleak’s high-level command of communication in multiple mediums. The result is this collection of unique & heretofore unknown species of composition. A magnificent presentation whose execution may not be unseen or unheard. Music itself may be altered by their distribution.

DAFT ALLIANCE 2023

Concentrick is the solo works of artist and producer Tim Green. Known for his more abrasive work in Nation of Ulysses and The Fucking Champs, Lucid Dreaming shows us a different side of Green with 9 gentle Twin Peaks inspired cosmic synth classics.

Lucid Dreaming was originally released as part of the Emperor Jones catalog in 2002. To mark the 20 year anniversary Daft Alliance will reissue this gem for the first time on cassette. Professionally dubbed and printer sky blue cassette in sky blue Norelco case. Edition will be limited to 50 copies and is expected to sell fast. The sounds featured on Alma Maru’s self-titled debut, conjured via guitar and synth, vacillate between haunting, atmospheric drones and abrasive sheets of noise, sometimes within the same track. Spare, brooding beauty explodes into hellish chaos and then resolves itself again, like dust settling after an explosion. “Am18” is one of several tracks that sounds like a Godspeed You! Black Emperor demo that’s been left in the elements to degrade, the song’s swirling guitar tones submerged under a fine layer of static. The electronic warbles that undergird the piece simultaneously resemble the hoots of a clockwork owl and the beeps of a busted self-checkout station left to rust after a catastrophe. The impression left by “am18” is one of loneliness, a sad machine whirring on even though its raison d’être has long since been obliterated.

To All With History showcases three beautiful ambient compositions from composer Monte Cimino. Now available on CD from the Daft Alliance catalog.

In addition to his brilliant contribution to our Plague Hymns series, Monte has recently released collaborations with The Night Bench and Bill Laswell released on Laswell's M.O.D. label, and is known for his work in Burial Tree and Bay Area thrashers Concrete Walls.

The preposterous confederation of well established En Nihil & relative newcomer EOTN is itself something of an illusion. Collectively the personnel in both projects represent 60+ years of operation upon the event horizon of musical comprehension & classification. En Nihil’s well documented presence & influence in a seminal era of dark experimentation run amok in the blinding UV-lit hellscape of California’s “Southland” is shared with EOTN’s alternative engagements (TTT / Geronimo, Bastard Noise) therein. Similar bona fides do not equate similar approaches which is what makes this release so interesting.

Skeletonized started in 2012 as a solo recording project that consisted of drums and electronics. Through the years, the live band has included saxophone, bass, guitar, synthesizer, samples and vocals. The band's current sound is inspired by a wide range of musical influences that include no wave, free jazz, noise, punk & avant garde elements.

On the latest release "Future Shock", the band includes drums as well as tenor sax, alto sax, synthesizer and guitar. Sampling recordings of these instruments was a huge part of the song writing process as well, with most of the compositions being sample and loop based entirely.

Means Without Ends is a disturbing, introspective slab of blackened industrial doom that stood out in stark contrast from the rest of the slow n' low extreme doom scene, utilizing layers of harsh textured distortion and electronics to create a caustic form of monstrous doom that shared as much of industrial music's cold, machine-like aesthetic as it did the ultra-slow riffage of the most extreme variants of doom metal.

Means Without Ends is slow and psychedelic with churning treated drums, blow out basslines, epic ambient drones, and tortured vocals à la Xasthur or The Locust. “It’s like a brutal, psychedelic, industrial version of Jesu.”—Andee Connors (Aquarius Records). Truly dark music.

"Sometimes albums are the collective energy of the people involved and how they interact with their surroundings. This would be that. On our third album, we were down to the original 3 members and it was back to basics. By this time we had figured out that the only way we could excel as a 3 piece of 2 guitars & drums was to play tightly knit short songs that had little room to breath for all involved. I personally remember this as a negative period with a lot of negative energy; we turned our backs to the audience and purposefully engaged no one at all. This album is definitely mostly very negative but has a really raw, insular energy thats unlike the rest of the albums, as its literally what we wrote with our backs against the wall (and turned away and against any audience). Most of the album is just the raw 3 piece with no overdubs but then that trio ended and there are 2 newer songs w/ Eric Kiersnowski (Godzik Pink, Feather Wolf) which are lighter in tone and 2 with Bobb Bruno (Best Coast, For Carnation) playing bass. and also 2 compositions left over from the period of our first record that we didn't use before to counter-balance the brutality and bareness of the trio songs." – Paul Lai August, 2019
